| James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone Cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, annointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has commited sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James' words tell us that anyone who is sick is supposed to ask for prayers. We are told to pray for one another. We can only do that effectively if we know each others' trials and afflictions, as well as their triumphs and successes. A significant amount of time is spent each week during Sabbath services at the Fairview Texas Church of god discussing the people who have asked to be added to our prayer list. But, we are most pleased when we are able to remove a person from the list due to great improvements in their condidion. As of the end of 2006, we had over 100 people on our prayer list. To honor the confidentiality of each individual, we do not put the names on our website. |
